I recently shared with you some Gluten Free Options at Universal Orlando Resorts. I’m now happy to share with you that Walt Disney World continues to raise the bar in their efforts to accommodate guests with food allergies and intolerances. Select Disney restaurants recently took place in a test offering menus specifically geared toward those with food restrictions. This option would possibly eliminate the chef coming to your table to go through the menu to explain safe options. Now, safe options would be clearly labeled on your own menu. Of course, the option for the chef to visit the table would still be available upon request.
This test ran from September 9 through October 20, 2014 and I am eager to get the final feedback. Reviews are positive right now and most guests who have experienced the new options have reported faster service. As for myself, I loved the personalized service of the chef coming out to my table and explaining safe gluten-free options to me. I have Celiac Disease and am extremely cautious about what I eat. I am glad that the chef visiting the table will still be an option going forward. However, I believe I would be fine with the menu-only option at restaurants that my family and I have dined at many times before and I am comfortable with their gluten-free options.
This particular test took place at the following Disney restaurants:
– World Premier Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
– Kona Cafe and Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
– Flying Fish Cafe at Disney’s Boardwalk
– The Hollywood Brown Derby, ABC Commissary and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
I will keep you posted as to how the test went. In the meantime I would love to hear from anyone with food restrictions that visited any of the above Disney restaurants during the dates listed above! Feel free to sound off in the comments below! As always, I am committed to making sure my clients have a safe and magnificent vacation while putting their food restrictions at the top of my priority list. Stay tuned in the months to come for further news on results from this recent test as Walt Disney World continues to be at the top of their game at accommodating guests with dietary concerns.
