We have been vacationing in Ft Myers Beach for about 5 days now and I have to say, this is truly a little slice of heaven! I have to let you in on a little secret. I (Scott) have been vacationing here every Summer since I was around 8 years old. I have been bringing Kristi and the kids for as long as we have been married. If you have never been to Ft Myers Beach, we are located on Estero Island in Lee County, which is on the Southwest coast of Florida. FMB has about 7,000 residents, and offers a relaxing small town feel.
We arrived on July 3rd, just in time to prepare for the festivities of July 4th. The kids and I woke up early on the 4th and headed down the beach to claim our spot on the curb in front of Island Sol for the annual 4th of July parade. In no way is this parade up to the standards of a Disney parade, but this little town knows how to honor it’s local emergency workers, veterans and the USA. It’s a great parade with small town princesses, local business floats, classic cars and very loud fire engines!
Once the parade was over, we headed back to our condo, Beach Club One. This 15 unit condo is our home away from home and we love spending time with our family and friends here. Once back at the condo, it’s pool time. We enjoyed our time in the pool in the Sun…
AND IN THE RAIN!!!
We were very fortunate in that the rain subsided and we were able to proceed with our annual Condo Pot Luck. Each year every unit signs up to bring multiple items down pool side and we all eat, drink and celebrate July 4th.
Once dinner was completed we all moved to the beach to watch the kids play a little beach baseball!
Once the baseball game was over we prepared for the fireworks with sparklers and light up glow sticks (that we turned into a jump rope). As the fireworks covered the sky over the beach we ooh’d and aah’d, as we do every year.
We now have two weeks left here at the beach and are looking forward to all of the adventures ahead of us. Stay tuned for more from Ft Myers Beach!
